Founded in 1920 (with predecessor institutions earlier), UFRJ is one of Brazil's oldest federal universities, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. It provides extensive research hospitals, museums, libraries, student housing, cafeterias, cultural centers and strong graduate training, especially in health sciences, engineering and arts.
